1.       BASIC (which is an acronym for Beginner’s All-Purpose Symbolic Introduction Code) was developed in 1963 by two Dartmouth students, John George Kennedy and Thomas Eugene Kurtz, as a way to provide access to computers for students that were not science majors.

2.       Developed as a programming language that was easy for novice computer programmers to understand and facilitate.

3.       Widely used in the 1970’s for programs on microcomputers, and in programs for home computers in the 1980’s

4.       Is a general purpose programming language which is interactive, provides easy-to-understand, user-friendly error messages and does not require an understanding of computer hardware.

5.       Enables computer programmers to create quick and efficient programs to compute various small tasks, and also allows experts to use more advanced features all the while keeping the ease of use at a nice level for beginners.

1. Since the conception of the BASIC language, there have been over two hundred thirty two versions of it developed, (Namely: AutoIt, Famicom BASIC, and each Virtual Basic). This diversity enables a BASIC programmer to accomplish an array of small-scale and large-scale computing tasks, but also can cause hindrances, because most BASIC platforms, are not cross compatible.
